Pupil Premium

What is it?

The school receives Pupil Premium funding, which is additional to the main school budget. The Pupil Premium funding (currently £1300 per eligible child, per year) is allocated to pupils who are either currently eligible for free school meals or who have been eligible in the last 6 years*

What is it used for?

Pupil Premium funding is intended to address the historic underachievement of children from poorer backgrounds in this country. By giving schools additional money when they have families from poorer backgrounds, the Government is seeking to ‘close the gap’ in achievement, meaning that any student from any background should be able to achieve at a high level. The money is intended to support schools to ensure this happens for students in their care.

Barriers to learning...

We find the main barriers to learning for our pupils are attending school well and one time, arriving breakfasted and ready to learn, family and social emotional issues and behavioural issues for certain children.

At our school...

Every school receives a Pupil Premium Grant for eligible pupils. At this school we use the Pupil Premium funds to enrich the learning for our pupils and to support them to access their learning as well as they can. Please see the attached Pupil Premium document, to which we will soon be adding some impact data. We review the Pupil Premium provision each year in April.
